Loraine Estate: Decide how to spend £70,000 to improve your health and wellbeing
Over the next few months, residents on Loraine Estate will have the power to decide how to spend £70,000 on improving health and wellbeing across the estate.
There will be opportunities to come together to think about priorities around health and wellbeing, and to come up with ideas about how to spend the money. In December 2025, you and your neighbours will then vote for the ideas you want to see funded.
This is supported and funded by your ward councillors – Cllr Claire Zammit, Cllr Jason Jackson and Cllr Diarmaid Ward – who are keen to put decision making power in your hands.
Come along to the Project Launch party!
Come along to the community event to ask us more about the project, tell us your ideas and to meet neighbours who might have similar ideas to you. There’ll be refreshments and activities – all are welcome!
- What: The Loraine Estate Project Launch Party
- When: Saturday 10 May 2 - 5pm
- Where: Loraine Estate Community Centre, Holloway road, N7 9SA
Please tell and bring you neighbours - hopefully you will have seen flyers and posters around the estate. Looking forward to seeing you there!
Project timeline:
April – August 2025: Thinking about solutions together
- We’ll have community events to discuss what health and wellbeing looks like for you and what would improve your health and wellbeing. We’ll discuss key issues and start coming up with solutions and ideas to spend the money together.
September – November 2025: Submit your proposals, together with your neighbours
- Residents are invited to put together proposals for how the money can be spent.
December 2025: Voting
- Residents can vote on which proposals they support and want to fund.
January 2026 onwards: Start funding projects
- We’ll start the process of funding the successful projects.
How to get involved
There are lots of different ways you can get involved:
- Come along to events and share your ideas throughout the year.
- Get more involved, and volunteer to support this project.
- Propose a project.
- Vote for your favourite projects in December 2025.
To get involved, ask us any questions or share ideas, email us at engagement@islington.gov.uk or phone 07547 868 033 / 07811 043 478, Mon-Fri, 11am-5pm.
How can I get more involved and help with the running of the project?
Getting more involved in the running of the project is a great way to support your community, learn and develop valuable skills.
This could include some or all of these activities:
- Telling your neighbours about the project and encouraging them to come to events and submit proposals
- Listening to what your neighbours think and feeding back ideas
- Planning and supporting community events related to this project
You can also receive training if you get more involved - this might include training on community organising, public speaking, and proposal writing. This is a flexible role to fit around your schedule.
If you have any questions at all about this, just get in touch!
Thank you for your contribution!
