Can we have a rethink on the old cafe on Highbury Fields please. It is a much-loved place, as you can see from discussion such as in Nextdoor.com. It was closed prior to be pulled-down and now it has been announced that it would be too explensive to be rebuilt. No suggestion has been made about whether it could be just touched up under the previous much-admired up and reopened. Why not. That would be the third bulding on that part of Highbiry Fields to be allowed to rot away, the others being the old gardeners cottage and the nicer old wooden shelter. The shelter was another example of social cleansing, since it was much loved by youngsters and used at night by tramps. Both those groups should be supported I feel. The old cottage could have been rebuilt and provided another home in a delightful location.

Dear Timothy, Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately, the bandstand, café and park keepers bungalow are unsafe structures which have been condemned due to health and safety concerns, so they need to be removed.
The removal of the bandstand will create more green space, improving the wildllife and natural play area for children.
We are working hard to improve the facilities in Highbury Fields, including new toilets and changing places toilet, park keepers office and storage area.
While we aren't able to build the café as planned, we will be building a dedicated area for a fixed or mobile food and drink offer.
