Transforming the Finsbury Leisure Centre site
Earlier this year the council took the difficult decision to not proceed with plans to build new homes as part of the Finsbury Leisure Centre development. For more information on this decision, you can read the statement from Councillor Una O'Halloran, Leader of Islington Council.
Thank you to everyone who provided feedback and helped shaped these plans. The council is still committed to investing in the Finsbury Leisure Centre and Toffee Park site and is developing proposals for this.
The proposals include:
- Refurbished and more accessible leisure facilities
- A new medical centre
A new multi-use games area (MUGA)
Improvements to Radnor Street Gardens
Safer, greener, and more welcoming open spaces
Better connections between local facilities to help improve local residents’ wellbeing
The goal is to offer better facilities for everyone and support a healthier, greener Islington.

We are inviting local people to a number of in person events to present our ideas. It will be an opportunity to meet the project team and see these initial proposals.
