Islington Council, led by your Junction ward councillors, Cllr Janet Burgess, Cllr Kaya Comer-Schwartz and Cllr Sheila Chapman, has teamed up with environmental charity Groundwork to improve the old ball court on your estate and transform it into an attractive community space, with planting, play equipment and planters for community gardening.

We want to ensure the improvements meet the needs and priorities of the community. With your help we can create an attractive space for you and your neighbours to enjoy. The Thriving Neighbourhoods and Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) funding will be used to improve this community space. Please make your voice heard by filling in this survey.

Have your say

There are lots of options for transforming the space, some ideas include:

  • Colourful, scented planting, such as herbs and flowers
  • Colourful planting
  • Community gardening / food growing
  • Planters and outdoor seating
  • New trees
  • Informal play, such as stepping stones
  • Traditional play features, such as swings and trampoline
  • Biodiversity features, such as bug hotels and bird boxes.

You can also view the mood and image boards to give you an idea of what’s possible. Please complete the short questionnaire survey, letting us know your priorities.

Would you like to meet the design team?

Come along to the pop-up conversation stall and have a chat with Groundwork’s designers about what you would like to see included:

Date: Wednesday 7 June 2023

Time: 3 – 5.30pm

Location: Middle of estate

If you can’t make it. You can also contact the Groundwork team or the Special Project Team and we will be in touch to set up a convenient time for a telephone conversation.

Designs development

Based on residents’ ideas and priorities we will develop a sketch design, showing what improvements could look like. You will of course have the opportunity to comment on the design and we will then finalise and let you know when you can expect improvements to be carried out. We will share the design here and will also send you a copy in a few months' time. You can also receive updates by subscribing to the project using the subscribe button.

Findings from your initial designs

We will share results of engagement in June and will develop a sketch design based on what we have heard.
