Frequently Asked Questions
Temporary CCTV FAQs
1. Why has temporary CCTV been installed on my estate?
Temporary cameras are deployed to monitor areas where anti-social behaviour (ASB) or crime has been reported. They help us assess whether CCTV is effective before considering a permanent solution.
2. How long will the temporary cameras be in place?
Temporary cameras typically remain on the estate for between 4 and 6 months to gather evidence and feedback before removal.
3. Will I be charged for temporary CCTV?
No. Temporary CCTV is funded by the Council and does not affect your service charges.
4. Who monitors the temporary cameras?
Footage is reviewed by Islington Council’s Concierge Service team and enforcement officers when incidents are reported.
5. What happens after the trial period?
We will remove the cameras and ask residents for feedback through a survey. Your views will help decide if a permanent CCTV scheme should be considered.
Permanent CCTV FAQs (Concierge Service)
1. What is the Concierge Service?
It’s a dedicated team that monitors estate CCTV live, responds to incidents, and works with enforcement teams to keep residents safe.
2. How does permanent CCTV work?
Cameras are installed across the estate and monitored in real time by trained operatives in the Concierge Control Room.
3. Will permanent CCTV reduce ASB and crime?
Evidence shows CCTV acts as a deterrent and helps identify perpetrators, supporting enforcement action.
4. How is permanent CCTV funded?
If residents support a permanent scheme, it may be funded through the concierge service charge following consultation and a ballot.
5. Who can access the footage?
