Introduction
Islington Council recently installed temporary CCTV cameras on your estate to help tackle anti-social behaviour (ASB) and improve safety. These cameras were introduced as a short-term measure to monitor areas where issues have been identified and to assess whether CCTV is effective in reducing ASB and crime.
Why temporary cameras? They allow us to evaluate the impact of CCTV before considering a permanent solution. The cost of these temporary cameras is not passed on to residents.
Benefits of CCTV:
Deters ASB and crime
Provides evidence to support enforcement action
Enhances safety and peace of mind for residents
Islington’s Concierge Service plays a vital role in estate security. Our trained CCTV operatives live‑monitor cameras installed on estates, ensuring quick responses to incidents and working closely with enforcement teams to keep residents safe.
Your feedback will help us decide whether to hold a formal consultation on installing a permanent CCTV system, which could be funded through the concierge service charge.
