Islington Greener Together
Islington Council launched Round Two of the Islington Greener Together programme in February 2024, inviting residents, businesses, and community groups, with support from their neighbours, to submit ideas to green publicly accessible spaces in their neighbourhoods. With the support of the council, local people can bring their ideas to life and make their streets greener. One of these locations is Marriott Road, where we have been asked to introduce greening on Marriott Road close to the junction with Tollington Park.
Marriott Road
The project site is located on Marriott Road close to the junction with Tollington Park, within the Tollington Ward.
Initial design proposal
Our initial design proposes the following on Marriott Road:
New in-ground planting beds on either side of Marriott Road close to the junction with Tollington Road, to enhance biodiversity and contribute to the overall greening of the streetscape.
Once the initial design proposal for Marriott Road was developed, it was shared online via the project website and made available at the Islington North Library. Local people could provide feedback on the design between Monday 16 March 2026 and Sunday 29 March 2026 through an online survey on the project website or via hard copies available at the Islington North Library .
Additionally, an in-person engagement session was held at the Lower Hall at St Mark's Church on Wednesday 25 March 2026, allowing attendees to share their feedback on the design proposals and ask officers questions. The feedback from both the survey and the in-person engagement session was reviewed and considered in the development of the final design.
Next steps
Following the feedback period (Monday 16 March 2026 – Sunday 29 March 2026), we will use the feedback received to help inform any changes to the final design proposal for Marriott Road. Once the design has been finalised, we will aim to begin delivery of the proposal in summer 2026.
