Your Tufnell Park ward councillors, Cllr Tricia Clarke, Cllr Satnam Gill and Cllr Gulcin Ozdemir would like to thank you for your feedback and ideas on how to transform the spaces at Lower Hilldrop estate.

With your help we can create attractive spaces for you, your neighbours and children to enjoy. The project will be fully-funded via Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) (External link) funding. The cost of the improvements will not be recharged to residents.

Lower Hilldrop multi use equipment and MUGA



Based on the feedback you gave us during the engagement campaign. The improvement work to Lower Hilldrop estate play areas and MUGA area:


Toddler Play Area 1 (Fenced Area – under 5s)

Following your feedback, this area will be retaining the majority of the existing equipment, as many items are still in good condition.


Key features of the proposed design include:

  • Installation of a new toddler and junior swing combination
  • Replacement of both gates with new self-closing easy-gates
  • New bench to be installed

Junior Play Area 2 (Unfenced – ages 6 to teens)

Residents asked for more challenging and varied equipment for older children and specifically requested additional swings. The current equipment in this area is worn and will be fully removed and replaced.


Key features of the proposed design include:

  • A combination swing offering both basket and flat seat options
  • A new climbing unit providing age-appropriate challenge
  • Somersault bars and a table tennis table added following consultation to create more varied activities
  • Upgraded mixed green wetpour surfacing with improved edging

Sport Pitch and Fitness Area

Many residents highlighted issues with the current sport pitch, including poor surfacing, outdated fencing and limited sports facilities.

Key features of the proposed design include:

  • Brand new 3m high rebound sport pitch fencing
  • Upgraded sports court surface with improved drainage
  • New football and basketball goal ends with noise suppression inserts
  • A dedicated fitness zone, including equipment such as a chest press, leg press, cross trainer and calisthenics frame. This will form a new sports and fitness hub for all residents, encouraging more outdoor activity
