We have been working with the community since 2017 to explore how we can improve the Finsbury Leisure Centre site, bring it up to date, and deliver wider benefits for the local community.

Our proposals

This project will be the biggest investment in this area’s public services in a generation - to help build a more equal Islington.

Our proposals will provide:

• 100 council homes with 98 more homes for sale to help pay for them.

• A brand-new leisure centre including four 5/6-a-side rooftop football pitches.

• A modern, purpose-built home for the NHS City Road Medical Centre.

• New and improved public spaces including a publicly accessible courtyard garden, safer, greener streets and ‘play on the way’ features for children.

Updated designs – July 2024

In our last public engagement in January, we received lots of helpful feedback which has informed the development of our designs. Now we’re sharing our updated proposals for the Finsbury Leisure Centre site.

Join us at our public events or read the information on this page to see the updated designs, hear how we’ve considered the community’s feedback, and learn about the next steps.
