About the engagement

The council is committed to improving air quality by making our roads greener and healthier. To help achieve this goal and support the shift to low emission vehicles for essential journeys, we have installed over 600 charge points across the borough.

Replacing petrol and diesel vehicles with electric vehicles will help to improve air quality by reducing harmful emissions such as nitrous oxide and carbon dioxide.

What we are proposing

To keep pace with the growing number of electric vehicles and demand for charge points, in October we proposed to roll out a further 67 electric vehicle dual connection (22kw) fast charge sites across the borough by March 2026. This included the creation of two electric vehicle spaces in the existing parking bay at each site, including the site proposed in this engagement at Heathville Road, next to 9 to 12 Brambledown Mansions.

Due to an error with the location description in the previous engagement for the proposed charge points on Heathville Road, we are inviting further comments on the proposed charge points. All comments including those already received for the previous engagement will be considered in our final decision.

How you can give us your comments

Please see the proposed location on Heathville Road on the map, and fill in our survey to tell us your feedback.

How we identified the charge point locations

The proposed charge points are located where resident requests have been received and there is an identified need for additional infrastructure.

The process we follow depends on the network operator and type of charge point. However, when investigating locations for new charge points, we have considered a wide range of matters such as:

  • The accessibility of the proposed electric vehicle charging bays
  • Residual footway widths for pedestrian movement around the proposed charge point
  • Local build environment including heritage considerations
  • Local demand for electric vehicle charging
  • Conforming to regulatory electrical safety standards and requirements.

About TotalEnergies

TotalEnergies will be installing, running, and maintaining all the new charge points that are agreed to after the engagement process.
