City of London Primary Academy Islington - Golden Lane Improvements
As part of our commitment to make our streets safer, cleaner and healthier, we would like to deliver improvements to the environment around City of London Primary Academy Islington (COLPAI) on Golden Lane.
We want to work closely with the school community in order to improve the space around COLPAI for students, parents and the wider community.
Our School Streets programme so far
School Streets often involve timed traffic restrictions at pick up and drop off times that aim to:
improve air quality at the school gates
reduce road danger, making it safer for children to get to and from school
make it easier for children, and their parents and carers, to be more active on their way to school by walking, scooting or cycling.
The first School Street in Islington was introduced in 2019 and so far, we have introduced 36 School Streets. However, there are some primary schools located on roads where it has not been possible to introduce timed traffic restrictions. At these schools, we are proposing to implement improvements to the environment outside the school such as greening, pavement widening, and new crossings among other interventions.
We have successfully introduced improvements to the environment outside some schools already, such as Robert Blair School and Ambler Primary School.

We want to hear from you
We want to listen to the school community to better understand concerns around transport related issues in the area around the school on Golden Lane. We also want to hear from you about what measures you would like to see implemented outside COLPAI. Complete the short engagement survey below to tell us what you think.
Come and talk to us
If you would like to come and talk to us about the project in person and discuss some ideas in more detail, we will be hosting two pop up sessions in the school playground at COLPAI on Tuesday 13 October at school pick up time in the morning, and Friday 16 October at school drop off time in the afternoon.
We will also be running separate sessions with the school students.
