Violence against women and girls is a serious issue that affects every community. This year, we're joining the global 16 Days of Activism campaign with a local focus: encouraging men to take action and become visible allies.

We’re asking men across the borough to make a pledge and help build a safer, more equal Islington.

Why this matters

Many men want to challenge harmful behaviour but don’t always know how. This campaign offers practical ways to learn, speak up and support women and girls. Silence allows abuse to continue. Respectful action can help stop violence against women and girls and support women's rights and gender equality.

How to make your pledge

1. Go to the digital noticeboard below

2. Click Have Your Say

3. Click New Post

4. Create an account or sign in when prompted

5. Choose one of the three pledges below:

  • “I pledge to complete training that helps me understand the causes of violence and how to challenge harmful behaviour.”
  • “I pledge to learn about the different forms abuse can take and stand against it in all its forms.”
  • “I pledge to speak up, share what I’ve learned and support other men to take action too.”

6. Copy your pledge

7. Paste your pledge in the Add your text box

8. Select a colour for your post

9. Click Post

What happens next

• Make your pledge and commit to being part of the solution

• Receive resources and training opportunities

• Share your pledge with others

• Help build a zero-tolerance community

Together, we can shift the conversation from “Why didn’t she leave?” to “Why didn’t he stop?”
