Duty to consult
Under Section 115 of the Environment Act 2021, it is the Council’s obligation to consult members of the public regarding the removal of any street tree that is not dead and/or dangerous.
Proposal Islington Council would like your feedback on the proposed removal of a London Plane tree situated outside 195 Highbury Quadrant to mitigate an association with damage to property. Evidence has been supplied to the London Borough of Islington tree service that shows an association between the tree and property damages.
Alternative solutions
Alternative solutions were explored; the tree was crown-reduced during the summer of 2024.
Tree replacement
Dependent upon the outcome of this consultation our tree planting team will look for a suitable tree planting site as close to the original as possible.
