Consultation of a proposed zebra crossing on Thorpedale Road

We are committed to creating a greener, healthier borough by making our streets safer and more welcoming for everyone. We are currently consulting on introducing a new zebra crossing on Thorpedale Road – and we want to hear your views.

Our proposals are to introduce a raised zebra crossing on Thorpedale Road, extending the footway outside the park to reduce crossing distance, as well as installing speed hump outside number 70 Thorpedale Road. We believe these measures will help provide a safe crossing location for people within the surrounding area wishing to access the Wray Crescent Open Space and Cricket Pitch, and for pupils, guardians, and teachers travelling to Christ the King Catholic Primary School and North Islington Nursery School & Children’s Centre on Tollington Park. The proposals include:

  • Proposed raised zebra crossing: This is a raised pedestrian priority crossing without traffic signals, where pedestrians have right of way.
  • Proposed speed hump: Proposed new speed hump prior to the raised zebra crossing, to help reduce vehicle speeds along Thorpedale Road.
  • To remove six parking bays: The removal of six resident bays would be required to accommodate the zebra crossing.

We value your opinion on these proposals so we would appreciate if you could submit any comments you may have to us via the link provided below by 5 January 2024.

If you would like further information on the scheme, please email Sumola.Salami@islington.gov.uk
