As part of the council’s efforts to create greener, healthier streets, we will be working with residents, local workers and local businesses to deliver a new public open space in St John Street that puts people and their wellbeing first, consistent with the 'Healthy Streets' approach, and contributes positive social, economic and environmental benefits. Formal consultation is likely to take place in Autumn 2024.
A business engagement exercise took place in the area in late August and early September 2024. Businesses were asked about their access and delivery and servicing requirements, as well as their aspirations for the area. A business survey that formed part of this engagement is now closed.
The council now intends to bring proposals forward on the St John Street Public Realm project.
