We’d like to hear from local people about what we can do together to create a more equal future in Islington as part of our new Islington Together 2030 plan. Share your ideas below.

The Islington Promise 2030 #IT2030

We all know that inequality exists across society, and in Islington, unfortunately, it’s no different. Although we’ve made steady progress to challenge inequality across the borough, there’s still more we can do.

That’s why we’re making a public pledge to all residents, local communities and businesses in the borough as part of our Islington Together 2030 Plan.

These are tough and uncertain times, and people across the borough are facing new hardships. So, we must work together to deliver on our collective promise to:

  • relentlessly tackle inequality and put this at the heart of everything we do
  • always put residents first by listening to them and collaborating to make a difference
  • be bolder and more innovative so we can break down barriers and create new opportunities
  • provide accessible help and support that works for everyone
  • invest in the local economy by supporting local businesses and delivering jobs and opportunities for local people.

Creating a more equal Islington is an endeavour we cannot achieve alone, so in return, we’re asking that people across Islington get involved, speak up, be part of the solution, invest in Islington, and be proud of our borough.

Find out more about our Islington Together 2030 Plan, the Islington Promise and how you can get involved below.

How you can get involved

1) Share your promise!

How can you help to create a more equal Islington by 2030?

Are you interesting in volunteering in your local community? Will you share your voice in the next council workshop you’re invited to? Is there a local business you want to support? Can you challenge the inequality and discrimination you see in your day to day life?

Add your idea to the ideas board below and share how you want to play your part with local people across Islington. As well as adding your own promise, you can like the other ideas you find inspiring or add a comment to share your thoughts.

2) Hear more about the opportunities for you

We want to support you to play your part. We'll be keeping an eye on the top ideas you post and sharing opportunities to get involved. For example, if your promise is to get more involved in community gardening, we can share the details of activities taking place in our parks or volunteering roles you might be interested in.

There will be plenty of other opportunities to get involved through many of the transformational programmes set out in our Islington Together 2030 plan. We encourage you to come along to the annual Islington Together 2030 Conference to discuss our progress and what’s ahead – details of the first one will be available soon. You can visit the council website to read more about our missions, how we will change the way we work with our communities and what's next.

If you have any ideas or would like to get involved in any way, please get in touch with us by emailing engagement@islington.gov.uk.
