Harvist Estate Low Rise Blocks - Resident Consultation Meeting

Low Rise Blocks


A consultation meeting will be held with the residents of Swainson, Hindley, Everett and Tenby Houses. This will be an opportunity for residents to give their views on what work they think needs to be carried out to the blocks. As well as data collected from surveys and repairs history.

At Hind House Community Rooms, Hind House, Harvist Estate N7 7NA


on Thursday 18 April from 6.30pm to 8pm


High Rise Blocks

Work to renew the lifts started in January 2024 with one lift at Citizen and Hind Houses being taken out of service so that new openings can be cut out. Work will take approximately 30 weeks for each lift.


Work will start on the next blocks (Talbot and Lillingston Houses, in June 2024, date to be confirmed, subject to progress. The forecast is for the lift work to be completed in September 2025.


A respite hub has been set up at 4 Everett House that residents can access while the noisy work is being carried out.


The respite hub will be open between 9am – 12 and 1pm and 4pm Monday to Friday. Tea and coffee facilities will be available.

A presentation was delivered to residents covering the following work: -


  1. Lift Replacement Programme
  2. Internal Environmental Monitoring Pilot Study (Aico)
  3. Heating and Hot Water Proposals
  4. Building (Fire) Safety Works
  5. Building Envelope and Windows Renewals
  6. Works to Swainson, Hindley, Everett and Tenby Houses
  7. Resident Engagement Strategy

It was confirmed that Amalgamated lifts, the lifts’ replacement contractor will attend site in December to set up storage and equipment. Work to renew the lifts will start in January 2024 with one lift at Citizen and Hind Houses being taken out of service so that new openings can be cut out. Work will take approximately 30 weeks for each lift. Work will start on the next blocks (Talbot and Lillingston Houses, in June 2024, date to be confirmed, subject to progress. The forecast is for the lift work to be completed in September 2025.

Resident Consultation Meeting 5 on 30 November at Hind House Community Room

The meeting is an opportunity for you to hear about the proposed works that are being developed for the estate including changes to the building envelope, the lifts, the heating systems, and general improvement works across the estate.

  • at 4.30 pm there will be a short presentation followed by an opportunity for residents to ask questions
  • at 5.30 pm refreshments where Project Officers will be available for residents to ask individual questions
  • at 6.00 pm the presentation will be repeated followed by an opportunity for residents to ask questions


Feedback from the Residents Survey 2023

Thank you to everyone who responded to our survey asking for your views on what improvements you wanted to be carried out on Harvist Estate.

These are the key issues that were raised.

  • Lift breakdowns and maintenance
  • Draughty windows
  • Storage heating and hot water
  • Damp and humidity in bathrooms
  • External painting to blocks


Lift Renewal Programme

The lift renewal programme will begin onsite in January 2024 to renew the lifts in Citizen House and Hind House first before moving onto the remaining blocks.

  • New lifts will be more energy efficient
  • New lifts would be more reliable, reducing maintenance
  • The proposed new system will allow inter-floor travel that would help those residents who want to socialise with other residents or friends on other floors
