Update - 1 August 2026

Temporary CCTV on the Estate – Visited the estate on 15 July 2026 with the Concierge Team and contractor to look at the hot spot sites we identified during EVA’s and walkabouts. The purpose was to see if there is a power source at the location and a safe place to put the camera (we have had cases where cameras have been damaged or stolen, so the location of the camera must not be easily accessed by potential thieves). Confirmed locations are 1-30 Girdlestone Walk, the steps/slope leading above the garages on Girdlestone Walk, Salisbury Walk – Dartmouth Park Hill end. These will be installed by mid-August. There are a couple of locations that require further investigation from the contractor.
Unauthorised Parking – Submitted a case through ‘Making it Happen’ fund in partnership with Ernest to get Gerda locks added to all of the vehicle access gates on the estate, which should help prevent unauthorised vehicle access and parking. This was a recommendation during the EVA. We should have an answer to this case by September.
Garages and Under croft – Submitted a case through ‘Making it Happen’ fund in partnership with Estate Services to secure the middle Girdlestone garages section. We are currently awaiting an update from this bid and will share with residents as soon as we have an outcome. Longer term, we are actively seeking funding opportunities where in the future we can bring disused garage spaces back into use. TRA would be updated with any progress on this.
Environmental Visual Audit – We have submitted some recommendations from the EVA’s through the Making it Happen fund. We put Girdlestone forward as one of our 10 priority locations for this fund. They have been scored and the team are looking at feasibility before agreeing which recommendations can be funded. We will provide a detailed update once we have an outcome. Some recommendations may fit into the Cripplegate remit, which would be presented to residents to see if they are things they would consider. Further consultation is needed and we will present ideas at the Community Safety table at the Girdlestone drop-in on 16 September 2026.
Tenancy Enforcement – Since the initial meeting last year, we have investigated 15 different addresses on the estate. Robust action has been taken in relation to 7 of these and we have had no further complaints in relation to these. There are still 8 addresses across the estate where there is ongoing partnership work (between tenancy, community safety, and police) happening, but the issues are not yet resolved. We appreciate your patience whilst we do this. Please do continue to report any concerns about addresses so we can investigate and take the appropriate action.
Patrols – We currently have police and Parkguard taskings on the estate. Hot spots that have been raised through reports include both ends of Salisbury Walk and the steps/slope of Girdlestone Walk and two rough sleeping sites on Girdlestone Walk.
Outreach: There is ongoing work to support two people found to be rough sleeping on the estate. One has been allocated a complex needs outreach worker. We will work with them to support them off the street. There is also drug and alcohol outreach visits on the estate.
PSPO – We currently have borough wide Alcohol ASB related and Dog Control PSPO’s in Islington. These PSPO’s expire in October, and we would like to extend them for another 3 years. There is currently a consultation running in relation to this and we would welcome resident’s feedback.
