Gambling Policy Statement of Principles 2026-2028 Consultation
We would love to hear what you think of our proposals in the renewed Gambling Policy that we hope can help reduce the effects of gambling activities that require a gambling premises licence. We would like you to share your feedback with us.
As a Licensing Authority we are required under the Gambling Act 2005 to have a Statement of Principles (SoP) which explains how we deal with applications for Gambling Licences. In Islington we have betting shops, amusement arcades and gaming machines. We must renew the SoP every three years. We also have a No Casinos policy that must also be renewed at this time.
We have included evidence relating to areas where the risk of gambling related harm is particularly high. In these areas applicants must demonstrate they have thoroughly addressed our concerns regarding the potential impact.
We are concerned of clusters of gambling premises, and we aim not to add further premises within 500m of another gambling business.
We value your feedback and encourage you to share your thoughts by completing the survey below, alternatively, you can send your response to the Licensing Service via email at licensing@islngton.gov.uk or by writing to:
Gambling Consultation Licensing Service Regulatory Services Islington Council 222 Upper Street London N1 1XR
The closing date for the receipt of consultation responses is 7 September 2025.
