Improving Your Shared Space – Conrad House

We’re pleased to let you know that funding has been agreed for improvements to the communal areas at Conrad House, as part of the council’s Thriving Neighbourhoods programme.

This initiative aims to enhance housing estates across the borough. Your local Councillors are also supporting the project through contributions from their Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) budgets, alongside wider improvements being delivered through the Mildmay Liveable Neighbourhood programme.

We’re working closely with residents to shape these improvements together. Our shared goal is to create a safer, more accessible, greener, and more welcoming environment for everyone who lives at Conrad House.

What we’re focusing on

Based on resident feedback, the proposals prioritise:

  • Safer, more secure spaces, with improved lighting at entrances and along pathways
  • Better accessibility for all residents, including improved surfacing and clearer, step-free routes
  • Enhanced green space, with new planting to create a more attractive and calming environment
  • A more welcoming entrance, with potential for seating, greenery, and an improved layout
  • Improved waste and recycling facilities, making them easier to use and better integrated into the space
  • A more organised and discreet lumber point
  • A clearly defined route through the estate, designed to support safe movement by helping separate pedestrians and cyclists, alongside new cycle storage.

We first gathered feedback at an event in May 2024, where residents shared valuable ideas and priorities. Using this input, we’ve developed initial concept designs - you can find these in the important documents section on the right of this page.

We’ll also be hosting a pop-up stall and carrying out door‑knocking in the coming months, where you can view the designs and speak to us in person. Details will be sent out closer to the time.

These improvements are non-rechargeable to residents.
