Islington Council is committed to improving shared spaces on estates in Islington, with the intention of leaving a legacy that benefits the residents.
We are working in partnership with residents: we want you to be actively involved in making positive change to your community and neighbourhood. We want you to be proud of where you live and be empowered to make a difference.
Great news! We are upgrading the communal areas at Aubert Court and Drakeley Court, rejuvenating them into an attractive community space for all to use.
We are looking to implement improvements that promote community cohesion, allowing people to come together and improve their mental and physical well-being.
The improvements we are considering are as follows:
Connect the communal garden spaces of Aubert Court and Drakeley Court to provide improved outside space for all residents.
Provide new or improved facilities for play, sport and socialising.
Enhance ecology and biodiversity.
Increase amount of green space in Drakeley Court, by a reduction of hard surfacing.
Remove the Drakeley Court stores to improve views across the car park from adjacent properties.
How you can get involved
You can feedback to us on designs through the survey at the bottom of this page or in person at one of our pop-up events. All residents living on Aubert Court and Drakeley Court are invited to a pop up event to review ideas so far and tell us how they would like to see the estate communal spaces used in the future.
How we use your feedback
All survey responses will be reviewed and incorporated into the final design proposal where possible.
Pop-up events
We are holding two pop-up stalls in so residents can share their opinions for the spaces and talk to us about their ideas.
VENUE: On Aubert Court Estate, next to the vehicle access gate on Aubert Park road. The gate will be open so that residents from both estates can easily access the stall.
DATE 1: Thursday 29 May 2025 – 3pm-6pm
DATE 2: Saturday 31 May 2025 – 11am-2pm
Current stage
Initial concept designs have been developed and we are sharing them with you for your input and feedback by 11.59pm on Sunday 22 June.
Next steps
Once this engagement phase is closed, we will review all feedback and revise the design to capture what you told us as much as possible. When we have an updated design ready to share, we will write to you again inviting you to another event.
