Week Two Andover & Six Acres Update
What have we been doing on Andover and Six Acres
In response to an increased number of calls about crime and anti-social behaviour in the Andover & Six Acres Estate, we have been carrying out additional work in this area to tackle these problems. We are working with the Police, Street Population Teams, Outreach Teams, Estate Service, ASB First Response and Parkguard to reduce anti-social behaviour and crime.
We are taking the following steps to address these issues:
- We held a drop-in session held at Andover Community Centre an opportunity for residents to come and speak with tenancy and community safety officer.
- Islington council commissions specialist outreach teams who go into the community to support people with drug addiction. Outreach teams have been tasked to the area daily, they are carrying out patrols with drug, alcohol and health workers who have been engaging with the street population around Six Acres and area, offering support and helping them away from the street.
- Street population support workers having been engaging with individuals who have been sleeping rough inside Fyfield and Haden Court.
- A job has been raised with Alpha Track to fix the closing magnets at Fyfield House.
- We are addressing lighting faults and fly-tipping outside Clifton Court.
- Two individuals have since been supported away from the estate and fully engage with support services.
- Estate Service caretakers instructed to thoroughly clean and clear any items left behind by rough sleepers using the top floors at Fyfield
- High visibility patrols are being conducted daily by Safer Neighbourhood police in the area. Officers have been issuing ASB Warnings and moving on unauthorised persons loitering around the estates.
- Parkguard have conducted 23 visits across Andover and Six Acres, spending around 18 hours on site to provide reassurance and tackle issues.
- 7 weapon sweeps have been conducted with no weapons found, gave nine on-the-spot warnings, and directed three people to leave.
- CCTV network on Andover & Six Acres currently being updating .
- Youth provider Kickback continue running after-school club at the Durham Road Community Rooms (on the Andover Estate) every Wednesday from 3–5pm during term time.
