Week One Andover & Six Acres Update
What have we been doing on Andover and Six Acres
In response to an increased number of calls about crime and anti-social behaviour in the Andover & Six Acres Estate, we have been carrying out additional work in this area to tackle these problems. We are working with the Police, Street Population Teams, Outreach Teams, Estate Service, ASB First Response and Parkguard to reduce anti-social behaviour and crime.
We are taking the following steps to address these issues:
- Door audit has been completed at Didbin Doucra, Noll House and Fyfield, Haden Court and many more. Police Design Out Crime Officer in attendance and made some recommendations which the council are considering, to improve security of communal doors.
- Street briefing on Six Acres Estate was an opportunity for residents to come and speak with various council officials. We were joined by residents who expressed their concerns for both Andover & Six Acres Estate.
- Estate Service team have raised an urgent job Job request with Alpha Track contractors to repair the communal door at Fyfield House.
In the coming week there will be:
- High visibility patrols by Safer Neighbourhood police in the area. Officers have been issuing ASB Warnings, and liaising with local businesses and residents.
- Police are being supported by Islington ASB officers (Parkguard) who respond to reports made to the council. Parkguard are also tasked weekly, based on intelligence, to complete proactive patrols in hot spot locations, often with police or outreach teams.
- Outreach which including drug, alcohol and health workers. Are tasked to carry out daily patrols, and focus on engaging with the street population in the area, offering support and helping them away from the street.
- Utilising an extensive 24/7 CCTV network to deter and detect crime.
- Using intelligence to identify problematic addresses and utilising partnership working to support vulnerable people and use enforcement against identified perpetrators.
